Beijing Mojo, Day 7: Shredding the Beijing Pow Pow – and Home to Vermont We Go Go (Friday, November 25)

No trip to Beijing would be complete without…pow pow!

Yes, friends, on Planet China, you can shred the snow on skis or a snowboard any time of year. Indoors, at Qiaobo Snow and Ride World. And since Qiaobo is located near the Beijing airport, and we are Vermonters, or, at least, we go to college in Vermont – heck, why not make a stop on the way out of town?

Qiaobo - the view from the outside. Epic.

And so we did. After a “last supper” breakfast of Beijing steamed buns and “Egg McMuffin,” and an easy check out from our awesome Jade Garden Hotel.

Qiaobo's spacious interior "lodge."

Planet China never fails to astound. Real ski resorts do exist now – outside of Beijing. But in case climate change wreaks havoc on the high desert winter climate, an aspiring Chinese Bode Miller can always come here to Qiaobo.

Kudos to Mel, Colin the “Frosty,” Tyler, Rob, and Ryan for showing Beijing how it is done.

Hen Hao! China Mojo shreds the powder (such as it is) in downtown Beijing.

Back to the Beijing airport for our epic trip halfway around the world, to the Vermont republic, and home.

I look forward to reading our China Mojo’ers’ final multimedia projects in 2 weeks’ time, when they reflect on their Planet China experiences.

This has been an amazing trip.

I am grateful for the opportunity to travel with such open and engaged young people.
